Here is all the vegan food we were able to
cram into our 2-3 days in Osaka, Japan! Osaka is commonly
referred to as “the kitchen of Japan” with a lot of famous
regional cuisine, so we knew we had to prioritize food when
visiting this unique city. Here is a breakdown of everything we
ate:
1) Oko Fun Okonomiyaki Bar – our favorite restaurant/bar in
Osaka! We are vegan okonomiyaki, which is one of Osaka’s
most popular regional dishes. It is essentially a Japanese
savory pancake – their version was a tad bit unconventional,
but it tasted amazing. We also ate some vegan gyoza, which
are Japanese dumplings. They were perfect!
2) Aju – we also ate Okonomiyaki here – their version was the
truest to the original creation, and it was objectively the best
one we had! We also had vegan yakitori, which are skewers of
grilled “chicken meat”. This place is a must visit!
3) Tengu – we ate kushikatsu, which is another regional fish of
fried skewers of meat/veggies (in our case, only veggies). A
great (not so healthy) snack to have!
4)Shama Vegetarian Indian Restaurant- who else is obsessed
with Indian food? We had a couple set dinners consisting of
rice/Naan bread, curries, appetizers, drinks, desserts. A really
nice option and good change of pace!
5) Starbucks- sounds extremely basic, but they open early and
have great breakfast options and milk alternatives! We got
vegan English muffin sandwich, a vegan donut, and some soy
milk matcha lattes
