Tofu "Egg" Patty | VEGAN | Vegan Breakfast Sandwich | VegVan Family

This is our recipe for an amazing tofu “egg” patty! Topped with some vegan cheese (we like Follow Your Heart American slices for this), this makes such a good breakfast sandwich, you’ll never miss the eggs!

Recipe:

14 oz package of firm or super firm tofu, water pressed out
1 Tbsp maple syrup (more to taste)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric
1.5 tsp kala namak (black salt- this gives it an eggy flavor!)
black pepper, to taste
1-2 tsp olive oil
Seasoned salt
4 vegan cheese slices (again, we used FYH brand American slices)

Preheat you oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Slice tofu lengthwise into 4 equal slices.
Mix together the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until a paste is formed. You may want to add more maple syrup, oil or mustard to create a thick but spreadable consistency.
Using a brush, cover the tofu slices on all sides with the mixture. Use as much or as little as you like- the more you add, the more flavorful it will be.
Once the slices are coated on all sides, add some seasoned salt to the top of each slice and place in the heated oven.
Cook for 15 minutes, then remove the tofu, flip, and add more seasoned salt to the other side.
Once again, bake for 15 minutes.
After the time is up, remove the tofu from the oven and add the cheese slices. Place back in the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Serve however you like! On a bagel with some vegan bacon or sausage- however you want to eat your patty! πŸ™‚
